Surrealist Self-portrait Landscape
Create a cartoon surreal landscape and collage yourself in!

Procedure
1. On the paper provided, draw a surreal landscape. This can be cartoon-like in style, but should still feature unrealistic or dream-like elements.
Consider where your photograph will go. Give yourself a couple options.
2. Trace over your pencil drawing with a skinny sharpie. Make sure your lines do not have gaps! Erase any stray pencil marks.
3. Take a photo of your drawing. Be sure your photo is clear and high quality. If needed you can edit the photo of your drawing in Photoshop. Save your drawing in your DMAD folder.
4. Open a file in Photoshop that is 10 inch x 8 inch file, resolution 300 ppi. (file >> new >> blank file). Copy, paste and resize your landscape drawing to fit the page.

5. Check your page for gaps using the magic wand. If a gap is present, use the brush tool (Size 5) to fill in the gaps. For a bolder and more consistent line, you can trace over your drawing with a Size 5 brush.
6. Use the bucket tool to color in your picture, like a coloring book. You MUST include the following in your image:

- regular color
- gradient
- 2 patterns / textures (Create your own patterns)
- value (Use dodge and burn)
7. Get Ms. Mehalko to take a picture of you in different poses to collage into your landscape. After your picture has been taken, you will find it on Schoology (Quarter 4 >> PS Practice >> Surreal Portrait Images) See alternative directions in Schoology for virtual learning.
8. Open your photo in Photoshop CC and cut yourself out using the lasso tool, magic wand, etc. .
9. Paste yourself into your landscape and resize it to fit.
10. Save your project as LNFI_surreal.jpg and place it in the Surrealist Self-portrait dropbox on Schoology!
